My husband has a chronic illness and frequently spends weeks in the hospital. I have been doodling each day while sitting with him and many of them reflect my thoughts at the time. Often appearing are desperation, hope, frustration, sarcasm, fear.

These masters of leaf-like camouflage can be found throughout Southeast Asia, with some of the biodiversity hotspots being Indonesia, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea . Final drawing 6 of 6. Here I fine tuned the piece. Spent some time on the shirt and wrinkles. Added little details like moles and neck creases. Finished up areas of shading. I had a heck of a time on his right eye. It’s the one area I couldn’t get quite to my liking but it is what it is. Overall, I like how this came out.
(2B pencil on a 195mm x 123mm book title page) The first of five in this project. I chose the Harry Potter book because it tells the usual religious "hero's journey" story, of a boy born for another life that sees outsiders as something different.
