Jung here. Done with lead pencils on 11x17 bristol paper. One day I was flipping through Frrank frazetta art book I had and one of his painting inspired me, so I close the book and started to draw and this image came about. This is an acrylic painting on pre-stretched canvas. It features a pop art style of pink and teal and purple shapes in a sort of abstracted floral pattern, but wait, that's a flower there too. This is a concept sketch that i might use on a bigger piece, it has a bit more to the design that ive added on to the top of the sketch as i was playing around with different ideas and angles to look at things. i love playing around with different symbols and markings that are quite tribal and almost mystical giving a depiction of mother earth or something shamanic also playing around with the vines and branches in the hair was a cool concept.
The name for this piece comes from a billboard I noticed as I was heading home from a shopping trip not too long ago, and it’s stuck with me ever since.
Life in lockdown (needless to say) brings with it plenty of time for us all to learn and get creative in whatever way works best..
The title for this one was inspired by a remark the DJ Marc Riley made on his BBC 6 Music show earlier in the week. Couldn’t resist getting inspired!
As we self-isolate and/or minimise going out unless we feel the absolute need to, as Freddie of the Mercury once sang, “radio, someone still loves you ❤️”
