Originally from Ukraine, Angela Oliynyk comes from a family of professional artists. She started drawing and painting at a young age, learning with her father. In Ukraine, Angela earned a Bachelor degree in Decorative Arts (Kharkov) and worked as a professional painter and illustrator. Her works were exhibited in many galleries throughout the country. In 2000, Angela moved to Canada where she received a Bachelor in Education of fine arts (UQAM, Montreal) and a Bachelor in Graphic Design (UQO, Gatineau). Knowledge acquired in both Europe and North America gives Angela a thorough understanding of the various techniques used in traditional and digital medias. The artist is fascinated by the tales and legends from around the world. Always inspired by traditional slavic arts, the artist has devoted several years to folk painting and illustration of ukrainian tales. Angela’s works depict scenes of the country life with originality and a great sense of humor. Her inspiration can be traced to her childhood where she lived on a rustic farm with her grandmother, a ukrainian storyteller.
