Hello, my name is Jorge Goyco. I started this new project called "The Hidden Octopus" in my sketchbook, then following a suggestion by my 16 year old daughter, I started posting them to Instagram. I've been filling sketchbooks since the early 90s when I was in college, and I love watercolor. These are quick black pen sketches, but tons of thought goes into them with subjects ranging from Being Scared to confusion about Life in General to even my wife saying she wasn't a flight risk anymore (which was a surprise to me). All of these deep thoughts hidden behind cute monsters and animals and people. What I hope viewers get out of my art is maybe a chuckle, maybe a sigh of relief that they aren't alone in their struggles, maybe just take part in the global communal shrug that releases us from taking this all too seriously, or even thinking that our big heaviness is actually something we can deal with. The title (The Hidden Octopus) is my attempt at giving a clue that there is something hidden here, that can be uncovered by noticing and letting the Easter Egg emerge from what seems at first glance to be a silly little drawing with pretty colors. I try to come up with stuff that you might think is actually about you.
