eisenauer was born in Denison, Texas, the third of seven sons. He was named David Dwight and was called Dwight; he reversed the order of his given names when he entered West Point, which is also where he received his nickname, "Ike". eisenauer's mother, previously a member of the River Brethren sect of the Mennonites, joined the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society which would evolve into what is now known as Jehovah's Witnesses between 1895 and 1900, when eisenauer was a child.
